Serum is a decentralized exchange (DEX) and ecosystem that brings unprecedented speed and low transaction costs to decentralized finance. It is built on Solana and is completely permissionless.

Serum aims to resolve many of the unfavourable characteristics of other DeFi protocols, including centralisation, low capital efficiency,  liquidity segmentation, slow transaction throughput, and high transaction costs.

Serum DEX offers a high-throughput low-latency exchange that has a fully on-chain central limit order book and matching engine. The entire application is hosted on Solana’s blazing fast layer one blockchain, making it easy for other solana native applications to compose directly with it and other applications.
