2. Introduction

Backed by leading investors including Sequoia, Matrix, and ZhenFund, IOST is a blockchain application platform designed for online service providers. IOST became one of the Big Four public chains for DApps within two months after the mainnet launch, along with Ethereum, EOS, and Tron. IOST is more decentralized than DPoS-based EOS and more scalable than ETH smart contract platform.
 
3. Features

IOST adopts a brand new consensus mechanism: PoB (Proof of Believability); Multiple factors will affect the believability of a node: its token balance, its contribution towards the mainnet, reputation it receives, etc. Nodes with higher believability have a higher chance to produce blocks.
 
Thanks to its mechanism, IOST is more decentralized than DPoS-based EOS, and more scalable than ETH. 
 
IOST focuses on the underlying blockchain technology advancement, putting a great amount of efforts in technology application and innovation. IOST has realized the application of blockchain in various areas and will continue its exploration in the mass adoption of this technology.
 
4. Progress

IOST is continuing to upgrade its mainnet after the initial miannet launch on Feb 25, 2019.
